Taste of Innocence: Interview WIth Nolebucgrl ~ Tyggy~
Taste_of_Innocence
Extras: All About Nolebucgrl
I got an opportunity to interview this writer! She's incredibly sweet and humble. I was so excited she took the time to do answer me, so i asked her all the nosy shit I could, that wouldn't bore her, enjoy! and until next time!
Tygs: How are you doing?
Nole: I'm pretty good, thanks. How are you?
Tygs: Awwww i'm fine, So tell me about the how you came up with the idea for innocent blood?
Nole: I just tried to imagine what it would be like if Edward fed off evil people all his life. Would he eventually get bored and want to see if blood that untainted by evil was better? And there began Taste of Innocence.
Tygs: Where you inspired by a fanfiction or a book you've read?
Nole: Well, a little is from Edward's own canon, when he did feed off wrongdoers, using his mind reading. That was really the inspiration.
Tygs: What made you decide to write a darkfic? Did you have any concerns with how your readers would take the plot?
Nole: I never thought I could write a dark fic, honestly, but I saw the tweets about the dark fic contest and put it out of my head and went to bed. Two hours later, I woke up with the idea in my head, got out of bed and wrote for 2 1/2 hours, then went to sleep for about 4 more and then wrote the entire day (while I was technically working, haha) and had the first chapter done at about 10:30 that night. It was a very inspired 22 hours or thereabouts. I, of course, thought it was going to be a one shot but it didn't stay that way.
Tygs: Seeing as how some authors wing alot of their stories (including moi lol) Did you following your outline to a T?
Nole :I have no outline at all. I generally have a loose plan but I sit down and let the characters go wherever they want to. Sometimes I'm just as surprised by a chapter as anyone who reads it is.
Tygs: Was the story that is posted now, the original idea, or did you have another route in your mind where the story would go, before choosing the current one?
Nole: It's the original idea. After that first chapter, I knew of course whether Bella lived or died but I didn't know anything else. I was busy writing Sacrificial Lamb at the time and I concentrated on that for 4 months while the voice stayed in the back of my head and one day I sat down and chapter two was born.
Tygs: Are you a darkfic writer at heart?
Nole: I don't think so :) I"m more of a humor writer and this one just started dark, and kept some dark elements, but was mainly humorous I think. I like making people laugh.
Tygs: Is Taste of Innocence the only darker tale you've written?
Nole: Yes, so far. I tend to write lighter fare, though I have a collab in the works that will have angst/drama and some darkness.
Tygs: Did you have any inspiration for the characteristics of your Edward?
Nole: Just the dream, honestly. He's a foul mouthed, smug, yet somehow still charming bastard. I will say that I'm often reminded of Dexter when it comes to his hunting, but Smugs is way more emotional, obviously!
Tygs: Has your story won any awards?
Nole: Yes, it's won a Hidden Star award for best one-shot and my fabulous readers have nominated it for many cool awards along the way. I am blown away by the reception to this day.
Tygs: How does it feel to be fangirled over, or have so many readers?
Nole: Oh, I don't think I get fangirled over really! Or have that many readers. But I definitely have more than I ever dreamed of and it amazes me every single day. I'm thrilled at how many readers have checked out my various stories because they're all different, a canonesque AU, this story, an AH...it blows me away when people like my writing enough to try out another story.
Tygs: Do you have any plans for a new darkficin the makings or are you concentrating on the ones you have so far?
Nole: Right now just concentrating on First & Ten and then the collab. I don't think I'll ever write another character that is as fascinating as Smugward so if I go dark again it'll likely be with him. I got the word sequel thrown at me a lot when I published the last chapter :)
Tygs: Who where your betas for the story? are you close with them?
Nole: Rameau is my beta and we're very close. We became friends through a message board and my blog and then Sacrificial Lamb came to me and she volunteered to guide me through. I would definitely not be here today were it not for her.
Tygs: Your pre-readers (i'm jealous of them) what is their role for you? do they just read for you or do they make suggestions?
Nole: Angela is my main pre-reader and she mostly just reads and lets me know if she thinks I'm being true to my characters. It's due to her that Smugs use of the word "fuck" is so prolific though. I sent chapter 2 to her about midway through writing and she said more were needed. Oh, and initially it was Mike instead of Jacob that was set up for Bella's disappearance. She asked me to make it Jake for both our sakes and fun torture and Jacorpse came into being :) Twisted Coincidence read those last few chapters for me, again more to see if I was hitting the right notes with the story. She loved it so I knew I was good to go!
Tygs: We will all miss smugward, what about you? how does it feel to have story finally complete?
Nole: Thank you! I will miss him terribly because he is such a character and it's almost like I have multiple personalities at times when it comes to him. He feels very real to me and I have a feeling he'll never really leave me. I still have some outtakes to write so I'm not about to let him go yet!
All About the Author
Name: Amy
Country: United States
Age (if u want lol): I'll be 36 on Jan 15
Favorite color: blue
Pen name: Nolebucgrl
Twitter name: Nolebucgrl
Favorite music to listen to while writing: I don't listen to music I keep the TV on for my background noise.
Favorite dark fanfics: And With Thee Fade Away is amazing. I don't know if you'd call it dark per se but that Edward has dark side so I think I would. Masque Of The Red Death by JeesieChreesie is also absolutely amazing. That's a true dark fic if ever there was one!
Favorite dark author: JeesieChreesie
Favorite undiscovered (low reviewed) fic: Eric Yorkie, The Van Helsing of Forks. Hilarious. Twilight as told by Eric, the only person in town other than Bella and the wolves that figures out the Cullens are vampires.
Favorite book?: Oooh of all time? Catcher In the Rye, Gone With the Wind, Where the Red Fern Grows, The Sound & The Fury...I like to read a lot.
Favorite site to update on?: I like FF's notification system the best but hate how often it fails to do what it's supposed to do. TWCS is probably the easiest but I"m an FF girl overall.
What is your muse, while you write?: I don't know if I have one. It's just my outlet, you know. I honestly can't remember what I did before I sat down to write fic. I guess I read a lot ;)
Do you use a outline to write?: No, I'll occasionally jot down ideas if I need to but mostly I keep it all in my head and let it flow when I write.
Do you hand write your fics, and then type? or do you just type it out onyour computer?: Just type, though my brother's girlfriend got me a writing pad for Xmas. I might give it a shot sometime ;)
Is twilight fandom only fandom your currently writing in?: Yes. It takes up so much of my time I couldn't imagine writing in another. Though I must say there's a huge need for some good Veronica Mars fic. Get on it people! I'll delve into another fandom for that :)
First fanfic ever read and why you liked it: Wide Awake. I liked it because it opened my eyes to the possibility that you could play with Edward and Bella and take them anywhere you wanted. I adored how he was the only one who could touch Bella and that they found comfort in the night with one another. I seriously wish that HBO would make it into a series. I would watch religiously, even if their names were Brian and Mary
.Beliefs in fandoms: Nolebncgrl ?
Would you be ok if someone PDF'ed your story?: Absolutely. Sacrificial Lamb was on that torrent site and I was grateful someone took the time to put it all together.
Would you let someone translate your fic? How would you feel if it was done?: I've been asked for First & Ten a couple of times and I said no. I really don't have much of a problem with it but I don't know the languages and I honestly don't know how humor fic would translate anyway. Humor is one of the hardest things to convey over language barriers. And I don't know how all the football would translate either.
Without your permission?: I guess as long as they didn't claim the work as their own I wouldn't get too worked up about it. I don't mind the concept, just don't have any way of knowing it's being done right.
What about taboo subjects, that have be written all across fandom, incest,
diaperward, fetish fics etc. Do you have a problem with some of the subject
content?: I have a problem with them in concept, in that I won't read them. People have the right to write what they want, although I think incest fics and child abuse fics are abhorrent. Fetish fics are not my thing at all but if some people like them more power to them I guess. I refused to read the diaper thing and I'm glad I did. hehe
What do you think about publishing fanfiction (the plot different characters) but the same story? I think it's silly, honestly. The fic still exists out there in the world and I'm not going to pay for it. Good luck to the gals that do it, I guess, but I won't be.
What are your thoughts on the peak of plaguarism in fandom? Would you pull
your story if you found out someone copied your story?: Someone did plagiarize First & Ten but it got pulled before I even saw it. I didn't pull my story and I won't pull my stories. I hate when people pull fics and I swore long ago that I would never do that. If someone else copies my fics I would do my best to get theirs pulled. So many wonderful readers have the writers backs. It's amazing the things they catch and I'm thrilled so many people noticed First was copied and informed me.
Name two faults you feel you have when it comes to writing: I have comma issues. I don't know why I cannot get it into my head that when I start a sentence with Well that a comma needs to come after. I make that mistake 9 out of 10 times. Another fault I have is in description. One of the things I like about writing fic is that I don't have to come up with what the heck the characters look like. Everyone knows. I'm not a visual person so describing hair and eyes and bodies ad nauseum is very difficult for me.
Give potential readers one reason, why, Taste of Innocence should be on their
favorite list: Because the romance of Edward and Bella is very different from anything I've ever read honestly. He bit off more than he can chew with her and she constantly has him on his toes. His inner monologue is my pride and joy and his reaction to her various demands and refusals just makes me laugh.
Tygs: Thanks for taking out the time sweets!
Nole:Thank you so much for interviewing me! It was a blast :)
If this doesn't get you to read Taste of Innocence I don't know what will. The author & her story are both wonderful. It's dark, humorous, and written wonderfully. Give it try, Read and Review. Remember, if it was you that took the time to write a great fic, you'd want some feedback also!
Until Next Time!
